Stephanie was very nice to us when we checked in at The West Wendover KOA. There are some places that are just on the way from here to there, and most of the folks staying here are for the night only, we certainly were. Close by (9mi) is the Bonneville Salt Flats and raceway. There is also a Casino, and an air force museum (The Enola Gay team trained here.) This is a gravel campground, but the sites are very level. Wireless Internet was good from our site. P.S. During our visit – the pool really is the color shown on the web page (green). We also had many hitchhiking moths that gathered on our rig during the night. Security issue, during our stay the “Night Watchmen” booth was empty.

“RV Ranch at Grand Junction” in Grand Junction, Colorado – was rated: 9
We stayed here back in ’92 when it was still a KOA, and it’s a little improved since then (it wasn’t bad back then, either). At check-in, we were given a Good Sam discount. Our site was in the large area of side-by-side pull-throughs sharing center pedestals – we liked the long, long site since we didn’t want to unhook for our one-night-stay. The sites were perfectly level. We also liked the closeness of this campground to the I-70, though it’s not so close that you can hear the traffic. There’s no cable TV, but you can pick up the major stations easily with antenna if you don’t have a dish. For Wi-Fi you have to pay to use tengointernet (I paid $4.95 for 24 hours.) We would definitely stay here again if we needed a stopover going to and from Colorado.

“Natural Falls State Park” in West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma – was rated: 9
By far the most beautiful park we have found in the northwest Oklahoma/Arkansas area. Extremely well maintained with great play ground area for the kids. Can reserve site ahead. Staff very friendly and courteous. Only downside is that full hookup sites are only 30 amp. 50 amp. sites available with water and electric only. Would definitely stay here again.

“Country View Campground” in Ogallala, Nebraska – was rated: 8
Friendly staff. The campground is well run. The restrooms and showers, while older, are well maintained with plenty of water pressure. The cable listing in their guide indicated that there were 80 channels, but we could only find the first thirty but that was enough for us. Long pull thru sites and very quiet. There were some train horn, but they were very distant. Not much to do there, but it made a great overnight stay.

“Chatfield State Park” in Denver, Colorado – was rated: 7
You have a choice of type. Full 50Amp hook ups or down to primitive. All concrete pads, nearly all pull through. Some very nice back in sites that offer more shade and privacy. Spacious sites and not crowded at all. No grass, just weeds. Radio controlled airplane field can be noisy at times. We got awoken by planes on 2 mornings. Wifi did not work and campground employees didn’t care. From talking to people it rarely works. Big rigs should use south entrance as there is no clearance issues. Large prairie dog town right next to south entrance, be careful a couple got squished.

“Auto Inn Motel and RV Park” in Newcastle, Wyoming – was rated: 6
Sites are tight. One big 5th wheel couldn’t make it in a site and just left. Tight turns. Our 24ft +toad took two attempts before fitting in the park. It was WAY more $$$ than we usually spend, but I wanted Wi-Fi the night before Escapade. Strong Wi-Fi signal but NO connection to internet. Sad, gravelly, dusty little place. For those camp fees I want more.

“Shady Pines RV Park” in Texarkana, Texas – was rated: 10
Remarkably clean park. Staff very helpful and friendly. We had need of mechanical assistance for our RV which was ably provided by adjoining RV service center. Only downside is lack of shade. Would definitely stay again.

“Loveland RV Village” in Loveland, Colorado – was rated: 8
A sign at the entrance says to disconnect any towed cars before entering the park. The interior roads and campsites are narrow. The sewer at our site was at the end of the site, so we would have had to disconnnect anyway in order to take advantage of the full hook-ups. Park is an older park. The office personnel were friendly enough. This was our second visit and we would consider staying again when we are in the area.

“Arkadelphia Campground” in Arkadelphia, Arkansas – was rated: 9
This place is headed for being one of the better ones on I-30 when traveling through Arkansas. It’s not far from the Interstate, so there is some noise, but I keep my doors shut. The new owner is putting in several improvements and work is going on all over the park. We checked in without a reservation and he found a place for us and another traveler. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. Full hooksups and cable and what looks like a brand new swimming pool, makes this place a great stop over. If it keeps getting popular, one might need to call ahead for reservations.

“O’Connell’s Yogi Bear Jellystone Park Camp-Resort” in Amboy, Illinois – was rated: 10
